Returning to life after the military is different for every veteran. I cannot see a future without a camera in my life.
—
Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, I always had a passion to serve. Despite concerns from my parents, I joined the U.S. Marine Corps as an Infantryman during a time of War. The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were still young so I knew I would most likely be sent oversees. In 2006 my unit received orders to Al Anbar, Iraq. This was the beginning of what is now known as “the Anbar Awakening.” There were ups and extreme downs. We experienced both the best and worst in humanity, often in the same moments. In 2007 most of us returned home. Changed by my experiences, I turned to photography to show the beauty in everyday life. My skill with cameras was very amateur but being determined I chose to earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art. With my new hard earned skills I pursued an unconventional path and a studio without walls. Using studio equipment in the everyday world, I create dynamic photographic art. I find peace in showing the world the beauty I see in you.
